Crabbes Creek to Murwillumbah

Generally we meet in Mooball just down from the Moo Moo Roadhouse. Lots of free parking. For large groups, please contact us to discuss possible alternate options.

Yes. In fact we encourage you to support these businesses in the small towns. Most of the towns have a store and several have a pub and/or food offering.  We will recommend our favourites, which are also on the map we provide. Many operators are in the process of setting up other options as well which we will keep you informed of.  

No sorry, due to damage that has been caused in the past, our bikes can only be transported by staff on our purpose-built bike trailers.

Yes our company offers return shuttle transfers between the accommodation in both Byron Bay and other locations in the area. The price for this is $149. 

We will discuss what time the shuttle returns depending on weather you are riding one way to Murwillumbah or coming back to Mooball. 

As a general rule most people will start the trail ride at approximately 10.00am from Mooball. 

The one way to Murwillumbah riders will get picked up at approximately 2pm to return back to their accommodation. 

For those who ride both ways back to Mooball you will be picked up at approximately 2.30pm before returning to your accommodation. These times are a little subject to change but will be notified at time of operation.   

For larger groups we can accommodate pickup times to suit the group. 

The Crabbes Creek to Murwillumbah section of the trail is 24kms each way. We start most rides in Mooball which is just next to Crabbes creek and gives ease of access to the trail and offers plenty of free parking. The ride from Crabbes Creek to Murwillumbah takes between 2hrs to 2.5hrs depending on how fast you ride and how many stops you make for refreshments or photos. 

The trail has been developed over the top of an old train track. Its smooth, drains well and the inclines are gentle except near the tunnel in the middle part of the track. However, remember with Better By Bike you are riding our amazing E-Bikes, so any hills or head winds, just add to the fun!  

As our rides are not guided, we have included trail support so if you happen to have any issues out on the trails for example a puncture, we are only a phone call away to get you going again.

Our 24-hour cancellation policy allows for great flexibility when planning your trip. If you contact us at least 24 hours before your booking date, we can transfer to a new date at no cost or cancel your booking for a full refund.  

In cases of inclement weather (very rare) we will make a call on the day whether it is acceptable riding conditions or not. If the ride cannot go ahead, we will try to reschedule or refund the trip. 

e-bikes are no different than a standard bike other than the motor assists you making it easier to get from A to B. Our bikes have 4 operating modes from Eco to Turbo.  

This depends on what power setting you are using, cyclists’ weight and how good you are at using the gears. Rest assured we have the best batteries in the market made by Bosch, they will take you to the end of the trail and back again and you will still have plenty of charge left. We will explain all this pre ride.

Our e-bikes are super comfortable with peddle assist motors. This means that when you peddle the motor kicks in and gives you that bit extra boost. How much depends on the setting you choose, with 4 settings from ECO for a bit of exercise up to Turbo for pure enjoyment! 

Ebikes mean no more struggling up hills or into a head wind. Enjoy the day! If you ever want to try an E-bike this trail is the perfect place to give it a go. 

Absolutely not the Trail is 24 km’s long and is back country for most of its length. The trail connects Crabbes Creek through to Murwillumbah Train Station and crosses a few roads at railway crossings on its journey otherwise the trail dives under or over roads along the way.
